I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We even waited an extra 30 minutes for them to open, expecting fresh food and good service. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The first issue was the drinks. They had a strange, unpleasant taste, as if something was off. When our food finally arrived, it was served cold, and it was obvious that it had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. The texture and flavor made it seem like it was leftover food from the previous day. I let the staff know that I was not comfortable eating the meal, but the overall service was just as disappointing as the food. As a paying customer, it's frustrating to spend your hard-earned money and receive food that doesn't seem fresh or properly prepared. Based on my experience, the quality of both the food and the service fell far below my expectations. I hope the restaurant takes customer feedback seriously and improves its food quality, freshness, and overall service. And i still pay for flavorless drinks as if.

I’ve been going to Le Lai for about 15 years, but after today I’m done. It used to be one of my favorite spots with great flavor and big portions, but something has clearly changed. I ordered three tofu dishes and 2 meat dishes and all of them were disappointing. The tofu basil came with a white sauce, which I’ve never seen before, and it didn’t even have basil. I asked for everything to be spicy and none of it had any heat. The tofu fried rice didn’t have a single vegetable in it and tofu was hard. Overall the food tasted off, kind of salty and pretty bland compared to how it used to be. Portions are smaller now too, even though prices have gone up. I tried calling to talk to management and kept getting hung up on. It’s really disappointing to see a place I used to love go downhill like this. I won’t be coming back.

During my most recent trip to Le Lai I found myself profoundly disappointed with the downturn in quality of food. Especially when considering that I have always thought of it as one of the better Chinese restaurants in McAllen. We had ordered the Basil Eggplant, one of our absolute favorites, and were disappointed that it was mainly onion with a minimal amount of eggplant and the sauce was overpowered by the flavor of Szechuan peppercorns. The Chicken Almond was again a disappointment with the flavor of raw oyster sauce, and the chicken had a slightly funky aftertaste that might be familiar to some that have been to low quality Chinese restaurants. It wasn’t all bad our third dish, Shrimp Pad Thai, was actually very good as well as the service by our waiter. Overall I hope they fix this downward trend because we have been patronizing this restaurant since as long as it’s been open

I went to Le Lai Eastern Restaurant for a late lunch. It is located on 10th Street just north of Harvey. The restaurant has been around for a long time and it shows on the interior. I ordered a lunch special, Chicken lo mein, which comes with soup and an egg roll, and hot tea. Good thing I speak Spanish because our server couldn't speak English. Anyways, tea arrived, I always liked how light in flavor the Jasmine tea is. My hot and sour soup came first, then the food didn't take long, and it was steaming hot. It was good and enjoyable, and very filling. They definitely do not skimp on the portions here.

This was an excellent place to meet with friends. We dined in for dinner and the food was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the restaurant’s atmosphere since it was relaxed and comfortable. I recommend the Jazmin tea. I will get back as soon as I can to try out more dishes from their extensive menu.
